ICOMOS (the International Council on Monuments and Sites) is a global organisation of cultural heritage professionals, which serves as the principal advisory body on cultural heritage to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and works for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage places. It is the only global non-government organisation dedicated to promoting the application of theory, methodology, and scientific techniques to the conservation of the architectural and archaeological heritage.
The theme of the four-day Scientific Symposium: ‘Heritage Changes: Resilience – Responsibility – Rights – Relationships’, reflects the tumultuous changes taking place in the world, but also a positive message about the role of our heritage in supporting rapid recovery and inclusive approaches.
Australia ICOMOS, is inviting delegates from around the world to Sydney for the 21st Triennial General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of ICOMOS from 31 August – 9 September 2023.
